The pads for hollow-wall boxes are pasted into the supply boxes and foam up strongly when exposed to temperatures as low as 150 °C, whereby an insulating compact carbon layer is formed under high pressure in the event of a fire, thus inhibiting or completely preventing the development of cable fires and the burning of cable sheaths and insulation.
Any cavities created by the installation of the supply boxes in the fire-protection wall are sealed by the foaming expandable graphite.

Retrofitting the pad in an already installed box is permitted and easy to carry out. However, reusing any pads that have been installed previously is not possible and is not permitted.
When routing cables, do not make a hole in the pad. Instead, make a cross or diagonal cut at the cable entry location and pull the cable through.

Application in lightweight partition walls and solid walls from a wall thickness of 100 mm.
- Peel off the protective film covering the adhesive strip on the back of the pad, and place the pad in the centre bottom of the inside of the electrical supply box. For a double box, two pads must be attached beside each other.
- A distance between the installations of at least 100 mm must be observed.
- The installation of electrical supply boxes with hollow-wall box pads on both sides of a wall is permitted.
