Extract from the Federal Law Gazette — 47th amendment regarding the KDV (regulation implementing the Austrian motor vehicles act)

22. The following clauses were added to § 18 Para. 8:

"It MUST be possible to turn down the reversing alarm to not less than 55 dB(A) + 3 dB(A). However, it must be ensured that the normal volume is restored when the vehicle is restarted.

A provision to turn down the reversing alarm between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. can be made, provided that it is ensured in this case that the alarm system is automatically switched on when the reversing equipment is engaged. A reversing alarm is not required, however, if the vehicle has an alternative security system, in particular a video system, which enables the driver to see the area directly behind the vehicle."
