UTP 65 D has been developed to meet the highest requirements in repair and buildup welding.

It is highly crack-resistant when joining difficult-to-weld steels such as manganese hard steel, tool steel, spring steel and high-speed steel, as well as for dissimilar joints between unalloyed/low-alloy and stainless steels.

Thanks to its good corrosion resistance, tensile strength and abrasion resistance, it is suitable for a wide range of repair and maintenance applications on machine and gearbox components such as gears, cams, shafts and axles, hot-cutting tools, hot trimming plates and dies. It is also ideally suited as a ductile buffer layer beneath hardfacing alloys.

UTP 65 D offers excellent welding characteristics, with a stable arc, low spatter, a fine-rippled bead appearance and very good slag detachability, in some cases self-releasing. UTP 65 D welds well even out of position.

Stainless; hardens under hot and cold working conditions.

Notice

Thoroughly clean the weld area. On thick-walled workpieces, prepare a V or X seam with an opening angle of 60º to 80º. Pre-heat high-carbon steels and solid workpieces to approx. 250 ºC. Keep the electrode vertical and use a short arc, welding either straight or with a slight weaving motion depending on the application. Welding electrode redrying 2 hrs at 120 ºC to 200 ºC.
